New Team Request
To request a new team in Microsoft Teams, select the Teams Manager icon (1) on the left-hand navigation to start the application. Choose Teams (2) from the upper menu and then click on the create button (3) in the top right corner.
Click the Team button to select from a team template.
Choose a team template. 'Firmwide team' allows all MG2 users to join freely and is searchable, while 'non-project team' is meant for non-project related purposes. 'Project team' requires a project number, and 'Teams with (guest)' accommodates external guest access.
Confirm and select next.
1. Enter the name of your new team.
2. Provide a description.
3. Select either a 'Private' or 'Public' team - Invitation is only for a private team, while a public team allows any MG2 member to join. If in doubt, choosing a private team is advisable.
4. Detail the new team's purpose in the comments area to check for existing similar teams.
Firmwide Team Template
The fixed prefix (MG2) cannot be altered. Enter the team's name in the Firmwide Team Name section.
Non-project Team Template
Choose the office, studio, or department from the dropdown list, and type in the team's name.
Project Team Template
Select the market and input the project number using the format 00-0000-00. Then, provide the city where the project is located.
Select whether guest access is enabled or disabled. When enabled, you can invite external users from outside of MG2. If disabled, only users within MG2 can join or be invited to this team.
Verify that all entries are correct; you may press the back button to correct any errors prior to finalizing the team request and clicking on the 'Create' button.
Note:
After submitting the new team, you will get a notification email from Mnet (no-reply).
Upon approval, Microsoft 365 will send a welcome email from the name of the newly created team. You may delete this email if desired, and your teams in Microsoft Teams will be ready to use. Additionally, Microsoft creates a SharePoint site to host the team in Teams, along with a Group, Planner, and Calendar associated with the new team you requested.
